The dinosaur is deemed, a terrible lizard; even though the closest living relatives is the birds; not a terrible lizard, based on bone structure and composition. The dinosaurs were the dominant group of land animals, producing a colossal amount of different types and sizes before coming exist.
In sum, the crocodile and the bird are living relatives of the dinosaur, small enough to hide from external events that caused the collapse of the gigantic cousins which required better temperature stability and more food to feed their giant stomachs.
